What I Read Wednesday: 9 January 2019
A couple of weeks ago, Lisa Leonard invited people to participate in her book launch. I was so excited to get my hands on this one, y’all—what I already knew of Lisa’s story and heart and writing was that she is honest, faithful, brave...and that she struggles with the hard stuff, just like me. Just like you. Brave Love was a quick read, and I love that she ends each chapter with a poem from her private writings. Like many memoirs, I found myself wishing some chapters were longer. I wanted to ask Lisa, “but what about...what then...” and I think that’s a good thing. One of the things I love about the way the book is structured is that you could totally read a chapter in carline, or in the carwash (guess where I am?), or at the doctor’s office, or during Paw Patrol. 😉 I think many of us see ourselves in Lisa’s struggles, and I applaud her bravery in sharing her less than perfect moments.
This is another quick read, and I think this will be the most-gifted-to-graduates book of 2019. These hard-won life lessons apply to all of us, and I would love to hear these stories in person. I heard about this one from Kayci and then Ron included it in The 5 Minute Bookshelf, so I knew it was a good one!
